With the beautiful weather, things are really picking up! I’m looking forward to meeting with clients, old & new, for some wonderful outdoor shoots soon! The colours are going to be AMAZING!

We have had some VERY warm days, and some rather unpleasant ones as well. But very soon, the warmer temps will stay and outdoor photo shoots will be easier to plan. Not to mention, the flowers will be in full bloom, creating settings that only nature could paint!

Just a reminder, I am no longer booking weddings. I am happily preparing for the weddings that have already been booked, but I’m not taking on any more. I want to concentrate on the photo shoots that make me truly happiest, families. Babies. Maternity. Pets.

Just a little reminder of the beautiful colours we have to look forward to.

On a blustery, snowy day like today, I like to surround myself with images of spring. It’s so close, yet seems so far when we’re scraping ice off our windshields, shoveling driveways & wearing 18 layers of clothing so as not to lose a body part to frostbite.

In reality, spring is a mere 50 days away. Here’s to outdoor photo shoots!

My little man got his first pair of hockey skates.

The title of this post is, of course, just a joke. Somewhat. I was on skates at 5 years old. My dad used to build us an ice rink in our back yard. It was a small ice rink, but it served a purpose, and my older sister and I spent many winter hours skating on it.

So when my 6 (almost 7) year old came home with a permission form from school to go on a class skating trip, my natural reaction was…. Panic. My baby? On SKATES? No, it’s dangerous, it’s hard, it’s expensive! Why ON EARTH would he want to go?

Then it hit me. I’m old. Officially. At 32 years old, I am a panicky old mom. I was on a bumpy, uneven patch of ice, without a helmet, and, aside from a few ticks, turned out okay.

So here they are. My little boy’s first pair of skates. And my first step to trying to relax and let my kids be, well, KIDS.

Have fun little man, have fun.

But it’s a new year with new goals, and I’d like to try something a little different. I’ve started taking some random shots with my iPhone, which is surprisingly a lot of fun. And with programs like Instagram, I get to add some pretty cool effects.

So I was thinking that I’d like to start sharing some of my iPhone photos. Just for fun. But that’s not all! I want to see YOUR phone photos! Be creative! You’re invited to tweet them to me @CHuygaerts or post them to the Simple Elegance Photography facebook page!
